What It Does

PFTrack 2D Data Importer reads text files exported from PFTrack and converts them into positioned null objects inside After Effects. Each tracker becomes a null layer that maintains its original name and keyframed position data.

The script parses PFTrack’s text format (frame number, x position, y position, similarity) and applies it to After Effects compositions. Useful when you’ve tracked shots in PFTrack but need to reference that data in After Effects for compositing or additional animation work.

Key Features

Direct text file import. Select a PFTrack export file and the script handles the parsing. No manual conversion or reformatting required.

Name preservation. Imported nulls retain the tracker names from your PFTrack session, making it easier to identify which element each null represents.

Composition matching. Requires your After Effects comp to match the tracked footage exactly: same width, height, frame rate, start timecode, and duration. This ensures position data aligns correctly.

Who It’s For

VFX artists and compositors who track shots in PFTrack but composite in After Effects. If you’re already using PFTrack for camera or object tracking and want to bring that 2D data into your After Effects workflow, this script streamlines the handoff.
