What It Does
Madrid generates a geometric monoline typeface built for motion work in After Effects. Each letter animates on and off, with controls for stroke thickness, color, and decorative line elements. It ships as both a JSX file for Font Manager integration and a traditional .aep project with all characters pre-built.
Key Features
Five-color system. Madrid supports five independent color controls, letting you build color treatments across different letterforms or animation states.
Adjustable stroke widths. The main stroke width slider controls the overall weight, from thin hairlines to thick geometric forms. Inner and outer strokes have separate width controls (two settings each) for adding decorative line layers.
Inner and outer line toggles. Checkbox controls activate inner or outer decorative lines, with independent width and offset settings. The outer stroke offset parameter controls how far these lines sit from the main letterform.
Full character set. Includes uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and common punctuation: A-Z, a-z, 0-9, plus ! ? . , : ; ’ ” # % & @ ( ) [ ] / * + - =
JSX format. The JSX version works with Font Manager for streamlined typing, tracking, line spacing, and alignment controls. Font Manager auto-generates a controller to adjust Madrid’s stroke and color settings. Alternatively, use Animography Controller (free) to drag characters into comps manually.
Who It’s For
Madrid fits projects where you need animated type with geometric structure, clean lines, and flexible styling. Its simple monoline aesthetic works for title cards, lower thirds, or kinetic typography where the letterforms need to support the content without dominating it. The JSX integration makes it practical for longer text blocks or multiple language versions.
Pricing
Madrid is pay-what-you-want. The suggested price is $30. A 7-day free trial includes characters A, B, and C (requires Font Manager, which also has a free trial). Buying four or more Animography typefaces unlocks an additional 25% savings across the bundle.
