What It Does

AI Relight Pro adds virtual 3D lights to video footage after it’s been shot. The plugin analyzes the 3D properties of your scene using AI, then lets you place lights that behave as if they were present during filming. The lights respond to depth, bouncing realistically across surfaces in X, Y, and Z directions.

This solves a common problem: footage that looked fine on location but needs different lighting in post. Instead of reshooting or settling for flat 2D adjustments, you can add dimensional light sources that interact with your scene’s actual geometry.

Key Features

AI depth understanding. The plugin reads your footage’s spatial layout to determine how light should fall across surfaces. This means highlights and shadows follow the contours of faces, objects, and environments rather than applying uniformly.

Animated lights. Both position and color can be keyframed. Move a light source through 3D space over time, or shift from warm to cool tones mid-shot.

Temporal consistency (Pro). The Pro version maintains stable lighting across frames, reducing flicker and jitter that can plague AI-based tools.

Point Light integration (Pro). Use After Effects’ native Point Lights as sources. This connects AI Relight Pro to your existing 3D workflow, letting you control virtual lights through familiar AE interfaces.

Unlimited lights (Pro). The Standard version caps at three lights per effect instance. Pro removes that limit, useful for complex scenes requiring multiple motivated sources.

Creative modes. Render only the light contribution to create neon-style overlays or color-graded accents separate from the original footage.

Who It’s For

Useful for anyone fixing lighting mistakes in post, like interviews shot in flat ambient conditions or scenes that need dramatic accent lights added later. Also works for stylized looks where you want colored light sweeps or glowing effects that react to scene depth.

The Standard version handles most basic relighting tasks. The Pro version matters if you’re working with longer clips where temporal stability is critical, or if you need more than three lights in a single composition.
