What It Does
versionUp replaces footage in your project panel by cycling through numbered versions. Select a file, click the up arrow, and the plugin finds the next version (v001, v002, v003). Shift-click jumps to the newest or oldest version. Option-click increments a letter after the version number (v001a to v001b).
Works with any file type: stills, movies, image sequences. Updates version numbers anywhere in the file path, not just the filename. Automatically skips missing versions.
Also handles comp and folder names using the same version logic.
Key Features
Arrow cycling. Click up or down to move between versions one at a time.
Skip to newest/oldest. Shift-click the arrows to jump directly to the highest or lowest available version.
Letter versioning. Option-click increments a letter suffix (useful for minor revisions like v003a, v003b).
Keyboard shortcuts. Install the included non-UI scripts and assign custom shortcuts or Kbar buttons for all versionUp actions.
Dynamic UI. The panel resizes to fit your workspace. Hide the settings button if you want a minimal interface.
Customizable prefix. While most pipelines use “v” (v001, v002), you can change the prefix to any letter. Padding length doesn’t matter as long as it’s consistent.
Pipeline Integration
versionUp fits any workflow using v### style numbering (v1, v01, v001, etc). The only requirement: version numbers must be the only difference between files, whether in the filename or elsewhere in the path. If you’re unsure about compatibility with your pipeline, the developer (Jeremy Cox) is open to discussing custom solutions.
One limitation: if an image sequence changes its start frame between versions, versioning may fail. Multiple version numbers in the same path can also produce unexpected results.
Pricing
versionUp uses pay-what-you-want pricing. Individual users can pay any amount. Businesses must pay the suggested minimum of $12.99. No subscription or separate tiers. Upgrade pricing available for prior buyers.
