What It Does
Speed Lines generates trailing stroke effects that follow animated objects along their motion path. Select a layer, click the button, and get customizable speed lines that track movement, even when using expressions or parenting. Everything stays editable after creation.
Key Features
One-click creation. Select your animated layer and run the script. It analyzes the motion path and generates shape layers with strokes that follow the movement.
Expression and parenting support. The script examines each frame to handle complex animations, including layers using the wiggle expression or parented to other objects. The strokes track properly regardless of how the motion was created.
Post-creation editing. After generating the speed lines, effect controls appear on the shape layer. Speed Lines Length extends or shortens the strokes. Speed Lines Offset moves them away from the starting point. Enable End locks the endpoint for manual positioning.
Script panel controls. Number of Lines sets how many strokes appear. Separation adjusts spacing between individual strokes. Thickness controls stroke weight. Offset Angle changes the angle at which strokes fan out from the motion path.
Update button. Change any setting and click Update Speed Lines to reapply without starting over.
