What It Does

Rescue Matte Cleaner targets the most common greenscreen problems: noisy backgrounds, tracking markers, boom mics in frame, and uneven lighting. Instead of manually painting out each issue, you set size, color, and position rules. The plugin then identifies and removes unwanted objects while preserving your subject’s edges.

Key Features

Pre-clean by size. Most noise and tracking dots are smaller than your subject. The initial cleanup removes these in one pass, handling motion blur without eroding edge detail.

Rule-based object removal. After the first pass, you can isolate specific objects for removal. Target them by size (“remove all objects under 50 pixels”), color (flexible range picker handles lighting variations), or position (“remove anything on the left frame edge”).

Smart extend. When motion blur, soft focus, or poor lighting creates gaps, the plugin fills adjoining areas based on neighboring pixel data. Useful for salvaging footage that would otherwise need reshoots.

Automatic anti-aliasing. Preserves edge sharpness while cleaning nearby chromakey noise. Motion-sensitive processing keeps fine detail visible even when your subject is moving quickly.

Color info display. False-color HUD shows which areas pass or fail your rules, so you know what’s being kept or removed before rendering.

Feather and shrink-grow. Final matte edge controls for refining the result.

Who It’s For

Compositors working with less-than-ideal greenscreen footage. If you get deliveries with uneven lighting, low bandwidth compression, or persistent tracking markers, this handles problems that standard keyers struggle with. Works in After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Media Encoder. 4K compatible.
