Project Doctor is an After Effects panel that tackles the most common problems in large, messy projects. Missing footage, duplicate imports, and disorganized media are handled from a single interface without switching between Finder, Explorer, or other windows. It covers three core tasks: relinking missing files, consolidating duplicate assets, and browsing or importing media.
Key Features
Fix Missing Footage. Scan one or multiple folders (including subfolders and image sequences) for missing media. Review found and unresolved items before committing, then relink selected files or fix all matching items at once. Useful when a project has moved between drives or handed off between team members.
Duplicate Manager. Detects duplicate project items and groups them by matching rules. Before consolidating, you choose which item becomes the master asset. An automatic backup is created before any changes are applied, so there is a restore point if something goes wrong.
Media Browser. A built-in browser lets you navigate folders, preview assets before importing, and bring files directly into After Effects without switching windows. Supports images, video, audio, and image sequences. Favorite folders can be saved for quick access.
Color Tagging. Apply color tags to assets inside the browser to categorize and identify media at a glance during import or organization.
Auto-Backup. Created automatically before major operations like duplicate consolidation or footage relinking. Multiple backup versions can be retained.
Exportable Reports. Results from missing footage scans can be exported, which is handy for documenting project status or communicating issues with a client or collaborator.
