What It Does
PQ Grit Kit 2 is a library of 160+ macro-photographed animated textures. Each texture is a real-world material (paper, ink, concrete, wood, sand, glitter) shot in high resolution and delivered as a 2-second ProRes 422 clip. Use them as luma mattes for type and shapes, add grunge overlays to footage, or drive displacement effects in Cinema 4D.
The kit includes everyday materials like card stock and paint, plus unconventional options like kitty litter, ketchup, and textures sourced from Los Angeles neighborhoods. All clips default to 12 FPS for a hand-drawn “boil” effect, adjustable via After Effects’ Interpret Footage dialogue.
Key Features
Macro-photographed textures. Every clip is shot from real materials, not generated. You get authentic surface detail at high resolution.
Looping 2-second clips. All textures are delivered as ProRes 422 files, defaulting to 12 FPS. Adjust the loop length or frame rate in After Effects to match your project.
Expression-driven masks. Fine-tune and animate masks using expressions for precise control over how textures blend.
Cross-app compatibility. Works in After Effects, Premiere Pro, Nuke, and Cinema 4D. Import the clips directly into your timeline or use them as displacement maps.
Who It’s For
Useful for motion designers adding tactile character to title sequences, VFX artists layering grunge on clean footage, or anyone building luma mattes for type animations. The low frame rate boil effect works well for analog or hand-drawn aesthetics.
