What It Does

Power Droste generates the Droste effect in After Effects, a recursive spiral pattern where an image appears within itself. The plugin adds 3D rotation, unrolling controls, and multi-strand rendering to the classic effect. You can control each strand individually and apply custom textures, going beyond what standard effects can do.

Key Features

Two rendering modes. Choose between Levels mode for traditional recursive depth or Strands mode for separately controlled spiral paths. Each mode produces different visual results for the same source material.

3D rotation support. The effect responds to After Effects comp cameras and lights. Rotate the spiral in 3D space, creating depth and perspective shifts. Useful when integrating the effect into 3D motion graphics.

Multi-strand control. Generate multiple spiral strands from a single source layer, each with independent controls. Apply different textures to each strand or adjust individual rotation speeds.

Extra deformation. Additional warping parameters let you distort the spiral beyond the base effect. Create variations like hyperbolic curves or elliptical distortions.

Typical use cases include abstract backgrounds, music video effects, fractal-style graphics, and surreal composites where repeating patterns work well.

Who It’s For

Motion designers working on abstract visuals, music videos, or experimental projects. VFX artists needing recursive patterns for surreal composites. Anyone building fractal-inspired motion graphics.
