What It Does

PastePath copies mask paths and shape paths between layers while preserving their spatial position and keyframe animation. Instead of manually recreating paths or dealing with After Effects’ default paste behavior that shifts positions, PastePath handles the transfer correctly.

Key Features

Copy Path. Select any mask path or shape path and copy it with all transformations and keyframes. Version 1.2 added support for copying multiple paths at once.

Paste Mask. Apply copied path data as masks to selected layers. The paths maintain their original position relative to the comp, not the layer anchor point.

Paste Shape. Insert copied paths into existing shape path properties or create new shape layers. Like mask pasting, shapes land in the correct spatial location.

Multiple path handling. As of version 1.2, you can copy several paths simultaneously and paste them to multiple selected targets at once. All keyframes transfer correctly.

Keyframe timing control. By default, keyframes paste at the current time indicator. Hold Ctrl/Cmd while pasting to preserve the original keyframe timing.

Automatic path naming. Pasted paths inherit the names from the copied paths, making layer organization easier to track.

Who It’s For

Useful for VFX work that requires matching shapes across different layer types, animators transferring motion paths between elements, or anyone tired of After Effects placing pasted paths in the wrong location. The multiple path feature helps when building complex mask or shape setups that need to be duplicated across layers.

Version 1.2 also includes a setting to fix masks with clockwise direction (an After Effects bug when converting shapes to bezier) so the feather tool works properly.

Pricing

PastePath uses pay-what-you-want pricing. The suggested price is $14.99, but you can choose your own amount. A trial version is available to test before purchasing.
