What It Does
MoTi automates the repetitive keyframe work behind promo animations. You import a layered PSD or Illustrator file, assign roles to each layer, choose a motion style, and click Run MoTi. The extension generates entrance, emphasis, helper motion, and optional outro timing directly in your active After Effects composition, leaving you with fully editable layers and keyframes.
The core idea is that most product ads, sale graphics, and social posts share the same structural logic: a hero visual, a headline, a badge, some supporting copy, and a background. MoTi lets you describe that structure once and generates the motion from it, rather than building every move from scratch.
Key Features
Layer tagging system. You assign each layer a role from a fixed set: KV (key visual), SV (supporting visual), Title, Badge, Caption, BG, BGElem, or Btn. MoTi uses these roles to decide how each layer should behave in the animation, so it adapts to your design rather than forcing every project into one fixed template.
Motion style options. KV layers can use Fly In, Scale Pop, Slide Up, Burst, or Zoom. Titles support Scale Up, Soft Drop, Fade Rotate, Drop Impact, and Slide Bounce, with optional Dynamic Type modes (Heartbeat or Energetic). Badge styles include Wiggle, Hover, Heartbeat, and Pop-up. Finishing options like Light Sweep and Base Float round out the look.
Global speed control. Switch the entire animation between Slow, Normal, and Fast timing without rebuilding anything by hand.
Smart Import. PSD and Illustrator files often bring in large transparent layer bounds that make positioning awkward. Smart Import trims those bounds to visible content, making layers easier to tag and work with.
Reset and rerun. If a client changes the headline or you want to try a different motion direction, Reset clears the generated keyframes so you can adjust settings and run MoTi again without starting over.
Who It’s For
MoTi is built for motion designers and editors who produce the same types of deliverables repeatedly: product ads, sale posts, event announcements, social media promos, and client revision cycles where polished motion needs to happen fast. It fits well into template-based production pipelines and is particularly useful when the design changes but the animation structure stays the same.
It requires Adobe After Effects CC 2021 or newer on macOS or Windows, and is installed and licensed through the aescripts + aeplugins manager app. A free trial is available on the product page.
