What It Does

Mercury turns any After Effects shape, text layer, solid, or mask into a liquid object. Objects deform responsively when they unite or separate, creating organic blob-like animations. GPU acceleration keeps rendering fast even with complex setups.

Key Features

Border. Controls liquid viscosity by choking the shape’s color border. Higher values increase deformation and viscosity, lower values maintain the original form.

Blur. Softens the edges created by the Border setting. Also adjusts the thickness of liquid deformations, working in tandem with Border for finer control.

Jiggle Amount. Adds undulating edges to shapes. Combine with Jiggle Evolution to animate the waves and Jiggle Smoothness to control amplitude and frequency.

Jiggle Smoothness. Adjusts the character of edge undulations when used with Jiggle Amount. Refine how pronounced or subtle the wave patterns appear.

Jiggle Evolution. Animates the undulations created by Jiggle Amount. Useful for organic, living-texture effects.

Turbulence Point. Sets an animatable origin point for the jiggle evolution, allowing directional control over the liquid movement.

All parameters are adjusted through a single control null, giving you centralized access to the effect settings.

Who It’s For

Motion designers creating organic transitions, title animations, or abstract visuals. The liquid interaction works well for logo reveals where elements merge together, or kinetic typography where letters behave like viscous fluids. Also useful for VFX artists needing blob-like shape morphing without manual masking work.
