What It Does

Maskform adds transform controls to mask paths in After Effects. Instead of manually adjusting mask points or using workarounds, you get dedicated numerical properties: Anchor Point, Position, Scale (X/Y independent), Rotation, and Skew & Skew Axis. It mirrors the native Transform effect but applies to masks, not layers.

The plugin also enables motion path animation for masks. You can animate a mask along a smooth path, useful for tracking effects or creating complex reveal animations.

Key Features

Transform controls. Each mask gets its own set of numerical properties. Set exact anchor points for rotation pivots, position masks by pixel coordinates, apply independent X and Y scale values, rotate to precise degrees, and control skew with an axis parameter.

Motion path support. Animate masks along bezier paths. The plugin renders smooth motion, not just keyframe-to-keyframe jumps.

Toggle Transformations. Preview your mask with or without applied transforms. Helpful when editing the underlying path while keeping transformations intact.

Bake Transformations. Permanently apply transformations to the mask path when you’re done animating. Cleans up the effects stack.

Remove Transformations. Strip all applied transforms with one click. Resets the mask without deleting it.

Works with all mask types: simple shapes, complex bezier curves, anything you draw or import.

Who It’s For

Useful for motion designers working with precise masking tasks. Examples: animating masks for title reveals, creating motion-tracked vignettes, building custom transitions, or rotoscoping where the mask itself needs to transform independently of the layer.
