What It Does
Mask & Layer Splitter handles repetitive layer and mask management tasks in After Effects. The script splits masks from a single layer into separate editable layers, renames batches of layers with custom patterns, crops precomps to content bounds, and offsets layer timing for staggered animations. It integrates with KBar for toolbar access.
Key Features
Separator. Extracts each mask from a selected layer into its own layer. Hold Shift to duplicate and lock the original as a reference layer, or Shift+Ctrl/Cmd to remove it after splitting.
Renamee. Batch renames layers using two modes: Separate (character-by-character naming) or Sequence (zero-padded numbers with a shared base name). A live preview shows changes before applying.
Precomp & Crop. Creates precompositions and automatically crops them to the content bounds, useful for organizing complex projects.
Offset Layers. Shifts layer start times in ascending, descending, or random order to create staggered animation sequences.
KBar Support. Adds core functions to KBar’s customizable toolbar for faster access.
Who It’s For
Motion designers working with shape layers, title animations, or complex mask-based projects. Helpful when animating multiple elements that start as masks on a single layer, or when organizing layers across large compositions.
Pricing
Pay-what-you-want pricing with a suggested price of $14.99. This is a one-time purchase for a single-user license with no subscription. A trial version is available to test the script before buying.
