What It Does

Lockdown 3 tracks deforming surfaces in After Effects without requiring 3D camera tracking. Track clothing, fabric, faces, or any warping plane, then pin graphics, remove objects, or export the tracked mesh to 3D applications like Cinema 4D or Blender.

Key Features

Warping surface tracking. Lockdown creates a mesh that follows deforming objects frame by frame. Manually edit mesh geometry or apply edge-detect filters for better accuracy in difficult lighting conditions.

3D depth and export. Version 3 adds 3D depth to tracked meshes. Export to Cinema 4D as .c4d files or to Blender via Alembic. Attach 3D objects, relight the mesh, or use tracked data in external applications.

Stabilized composition. Creates a stabilized comp for cleanup work. Paint fixes or adjustments on a steady view, then reapply to the moving footage.

Bundled tools. Includes Paint Link and Composite Brush (valued at $250). Paint Link connects After Effects to Photoshop’s AI Generative Fill for moving footage. Composite Brush provides color selection and keying.

Improved planar tracker. Version 3.1 includes a refined 3D planar tracker for better results on flat surfaces.

Who It’s For

Useful for VFX artists doing object removal, screen replacements on warping surfaces, or attaching elements to deforming objects. Helpful when traditional tracking methods fail on fabric, faces, or non-rigid surfaces.
