What It Does

I Ate Mushrooms is a neural network-based image and noise generator for After Effects. It creates bizarre, abstract, and hypnotizing visuals through multiple generation modes: text-to-image prompts, predefined object categories, custom footage, and neural transitions. All outputs are fully loopable and can be combined with other effects.

Key Features

Text-to-Image. Generate images from text prompts like “digital neuron” or “fractal clouds.” Good for patterns, abstract objects, and textural content. Includes a sample project for text interpolation.

Neural Transitions. Creates AI-driven transitions between footage. Feed your own clips and get trippy interpolations that dissolve between frames in unexpected ways.

1000 Object Categories. Access a library of predefined categories (objects, living beings, abstract concepts) as generation seeds. Mix and combine them to create hybrid visuals.

Latent Interpolation. Smoothly morph between different objects in the neural network’s latent space. Discover hidden visual relationships between seemingly unrelated things.

Loopable Output. All generations loop seamlessly. Use custom noise maps to drive randomness and create variations.

GPU and CPU Modes. On Windows, runs on NVIDIA GPUs (8GB+ recommended). On macOS, requires Apple Silicon with Sequoia or newer and 16GB+ RAM. CPU mode available but significantly slower.

Who It’s For

Motion designers and VFX artists looking for generative abstract content. Useful for music videos, title sequences, experimental film work, or anywhere you need organic, evolving textures that don’t look CG. Also functions as a sophisticated noise generator for layering with other effects.

Pricing

$49.99 for a single-user license. One-time purchase, no subscription. Fully functional trial available with a watermark (test your system configuration before buying, especially if you’re on CPU-only hardware).

System Requirements

Windows: NVIDIA GPU with 8GB+ VRAM recommended. CPU-only mode works but renders much slower.

macOS: Apple Silicon with macOS Sequoia or newer and 16GB+ RAM required. Intel Macs not supported.

After Effects: 2022 or later.
