What It Does

Hacksaw generates randomized displacement patterns for video footage. Built around a random number sequencer, it creates pixel displacement effects by clicking through different seed values. The plugin works in both After Effects and Premiere Pro, applying distortion patterns that shift pixels across the frame.

Key Features

Random displacement generation. Adjust a seed value to access different displacement patterns. Each seed produces a unique pixel shift configuration.

Built-in animation engine. The displacement can scan across the image over time. Speed it up for rapid glitch sequences or slow it down for gradual distortion. Turn off the animation entirely for static displacement if you want manual keyframe control.

Adjustable parameters. Control intensity (how far pixels shift), direction (horizontal or vertical displacement), edge behavior (how pixels wrap at frame boundaries), and chaos (randomness intensity). These parameters shape the displacement without requiring complex setup.

Real-time feedback. Preview displacement patterns directly in the composition. No pre-rendering needed to see how adjustments affect the image.

Who It’s For

Useful for music videos, horror sequences, or any project needing digital corruption effects. Works with footage, graphics, and text layers. Suitable for quick glitch transitions or sustained distortion sequences.
