What It Does

Depth Scanner Lite uses AI to automatically generate depth maps from your footage. Feed it an image or video layer, and it outputs a grayscale map where brightness represents distance from camera. These maps enable effects like atmospheric fog, depth-based color grading, 2D-to-3D conversion, or image-based lighting.

The plugin uses Depth Anything v2, a state-of-the-art AI model for depth estimation. It runs entirely local (no cloud processing), so your footage stays on your machine.

Key Features

Double Sampling. The plugin varies AI model weights randomly across frames and averages the results. This produces more stable, flicker-free depth maps for video compared to single-frame estimators.

Simplified UI. Fewer controls than the full Depth Scanner. Optimized for quick setup and iteration.

High-resolution support. Works with 4K+ footage when using NVIDIA CUDA acceleration. The latest version (1.3.45+) includes CUDA Memory Sharing for faster rendering of large resolutions.

Multi-platform. Runs on Windows (NVIDIA GPUs with 8GB+ VRAM recommended) and Apple Silicon Macs (macOS Sequoia or later, 16GB+ RAM required). Non-NVIDIA Windows systems will process very slowly. Intel Macs are not supported.

Who It’s For

Useful for VFX artists adding atmospheric effects, motion designers creating parallax from flat footage, or anyone needing depth information for compositing. Works in both After Effects and Premiere Pro.

Pricing
