What It Does
ColorFlow replaces manual color work in After Effects with a palette system. Apply colors to text, shapes, solids, footage, and comp backgrounds with one click. Extract colors from images, videos, or existing expressions. Organize layers by label instead of hunting through long timelines.
Key Features
One-click color application. Select a color from your palette and apply it to any layer type without manually adding Fill effects or copying hex codes. Works on text, shapes, solids, footage, compositions, even native 3D models (AE 2024+). Ctrl/Cmd + click a color to select all layers using it. Shift + click to apply to stroke.
Extract colors from your work. Pause a video at the frame you want, click the + button, and ColorFlow pulls dominant colors into your palette. Works with images too. Detects colors in expressions (hex codes, rgb(), arrays) and inside effects like Fill or Color Controls when Force Extraction is enabled.
Import from anywhere. Paste from Adobe Color, Coolors, CSS, JSON, or client emails with random hex codes. ColorFlow extracts, cleans, and removes duplicates automatically.
Color harmonies. Generate complementary, triadic, analogous, or tetradic color schemes from any selected color. Create instant light and dark shades to build consistent palettes.
Label control for large comps. Ctrl/Cmd + click a label to select all layers with that label. Shift + click to toggle shy mode on selected layers. Right-click to select all layers except the clicked label. Useful when timelines get heavy and you need to isolate specific layer groups fast.
Import palette to comp. Add your palette directly into the composition as color swatches or as a null object with Color Controls for each swatch. Makes expression-driven color setups easy to maintain.
Who It’s For
Motion designers working on projects with consistent color systems. Editors who need to apply client brand colors across multiple comps without copy-pasting hex codes. Anyone managing large timelines where label organization keeps things readable.
