What It Does
Color Grade Prompter applies color grades in After Effects and Premiere Pro by interpreting text prompts or blending looks from reference image layers. The plugin runs locally using the blace.ai engine (no server processing) and exports grades as .cube LUT files for use in other applications like Lumetri Color.
Type a description of the desired look directly in After Effects, and the plugin applies it instantly. Or copy a grading style from up to three reference image layers with adjustable weights. Once you’ve dialed in a grade, export it as a LUT to lock the look and apply it anywhere.
Key Features
Text-based grading. Describe the look you want in plain language (e.g. “warm sunset tones” or “cool teal shadows”) and the AI interprets it. Useful for fast experimentation or when you know the aesthetic but not the technical adjustments.
Reference layer blending. Drop one to three image layers into the comp and blend their looks onto your footage. You can mix them by assigning weights, which is helpful when combining elements from different reference images.
LUT export. Export any grade as a .cube LUT file. This lets you apply the same look in other editing software or lock a grade for rendering without running the plugin.
Premiere Pro support. Grade clips in Premiere by naming them with the desired prompt. The same AI engine works across both applications.
Interpolation between prompts. Mix multiple text prompts or reference layers and adjust their influence. This makes it easier to fine-tune results or blend different looks.
Performance and Compatibility
The plugin is optimized for NVIDIA GPUs with CUDA support (8GB+ VRAM recommended) and Apple Silicon Macs running macOS Sequoia or newer (16GB+ RAM recommended). Grading runs fast even on 4K footage. CPU-only rendering is available but slower.
Recent updates (v1.4.45 in January 2026) improved rendering speed for resolutions above 4K and reduced memory usage. Exporting a grade to a LUT and applying it natively in Lumetri Color can further improve render times.
Tested on After Effects 2022 and later. Premiere Pro support introduced in v1.4.47 (February 2026). Windows systems without NVIDIA GPUs will run very slowly. Older macOS versions are not supported.
Who It’s For
Colorists working on narrative projects who want to experiment with looks quickly. Editors who need to match grades across multiple clips without manual curve adjustments. Motion designers who want to apply consistent color treatments to graphics and footage without leaving After Effects.
Not a replacement for manual color correction but useful for starting points, creative exploration, or when you need to apply a specific aesthetic fast.
Pricing
$199.99 for a single-user license. A free trial is available through the Color Match Analyzer plugin, which is limited to 50 frames per session and one LUT export. Test compatibility before purchasing.
