What It Does

COB_Latest Version compares your After Effects project file against its auto-saved versions to determine which one is most recent. When After Effects crashes, you’re left manually checking modification timestamps to figure out whether your main file or an auto-saved copy contains your latest work. This script handles that comparison automatically and presents you with clear options for what to do next.

Key Features

Automatic version comparison. The script reads modification times from your main project file and all auto-saved versions in the auto-save directory, then identifies the newest file.

Three recovery options. Once the script finds a newer auto-saved version, you can open the main file, open the auto-saved file, or overwrite the main file with the auto-saved version and open it. The overwrite option includes a confirmation step since it cannot be undone.

Current project shortcut. If you already have a project open, you can use it as the comparison target instead of browsing for a file.

Who It’s For

This tool is specifically for editors who use After Effects’ auto-save feature. If you don’t have auto-save enabled, the script has nothing to compare against. It’s most useful when working on time-sensitive projects where After Effects crashes could cost you significant work, and you want to recover quickly without manually checking file timestamps.

Pricing

COB_Latest Version uses pay-what-you-want pricing. Individual users can pay any amount, though the suggested minimum is $9.99. Businesses and teams must pay the suggested price to receive a valid license.
