What It Does

Baconizer for AE is an April Fools gag plugin from motion design studio ILLO. Released on March 31, 2018, it adds random effects to After Effects compositions when you click a single large button. The plugin humorously claims to make “boring compositions crispy” and includes bacon-themed branding, complete with a “grill sound” option.

Who It’s For

Motion designers who appreciate developer humor and want a randomization tool that doesn’t take itself seriously. While presented as a joke, the plugin does function as a one-click effects randomizer for experimentation or breaking creative blocks.

Pricing

Baconizer uses a pay-what-you-want model. Individual users can download it for free or contribute any amount they choose. Teams and commercial users are expected to pay the suggested price for a valid license.

The plugin launched with an April 1st promotion advertising it as free (saving $99.99 from a fictional regular price). ILLO also promised a “vegan version coming soon,” continuing the joke.
