What It Does
Moldover is an animated typeface built specifically for After Effects projects with a sci-fi or tech aesthetic. Originally created for electronic musician Moldover, the typeface features geometric letter forms with animated elements that work well for titles and graphics in videos about outer space, robotics, future tech, and similar themes.
Note: This product has been discontinued by the developer but may still be available through existing licenses.
Key Features
The typeface gives you control over multiple animation parameters without keyframing each element:
Animation Duration controls the speed of the animated elements appearing and transforming.
Color controls let you adjust three separate colors within each character.
Stroke Width and Offset Rate modify the thickness and movement patterns of the animated strokes.
Trails and Trail Echoes add motion blur style effects and repeated elements that follow the main animation.
Secondary Elements toggle additional animated details on or off.
Ease controls adjust the acceleration curves of the animation.
The typeface integrates with Characteristic, an After Effects plugin for batch text editing, letting you apply Moldover across multiple text layers efficiently.
A static OpenType version is included for non-animated uses.
Who It’s For
Best suited for motion designers working on tech-related content, music videos, sci-fi titles, or projects requiring animated typography with a futuristic look. The customizable parameters make it useful when you need variations of the same typeface across a project without creating entirely new animations.
Pricing
Moldover uses a pay-what-you-want model, letting you set your own price. Animography offers a bundle discount: order 4 or more of their animated typefaces and save 25%, applied automatically at checkout. The regular suggested price was $59.99.
