What It Does

Boomerang is an animated typeface for After Effects built with modular geometric shapes and energetic character animations. Created by Andrew Vucko, it lets you color individual letterforms with up to three customizable colors for contrast or tonal palettes. Available in both JSX and .aep formats, it integrates with Font Manager for a typing workflow or works standalone.

Key Features

Three-color customization. Assign separate colors to each letterform or keep it monochrome. Useful for branding projects where you need visual contrast without abandoning your color system.

JSX format. Lightweight animated typeface format designed to work with Font Manager. Type naturally, adjust size, tracking, line spacing, and alignment without manually placing individual characters.

Animography Controller compatibility. Drag characters into your comp and parent the controller with one click. Free tool available separately if you don’t need the full Font Manager workflow.

Built for motion. Geometric letterforms paired with pre-animated timing. Adjust with simple 0–100% sliders or add custom easing and bounce expressions.

Who It’s For

Motion designers working on title cards, lower thirds, or kinetic typography sequences where the typeface itself needs movement. Works for brand identity pieces where a consistent animated type treatment is part of the visual language.
