What It Does
AM Typewrite Text creates character-by-character text reveal animations, the kind where letters appear one at a time like someone typing. It works on both new and existing text layers with a single button click. The plugin includes an optional blinking cursor that you can customize or hide completely.
Version 2 added a Pseudo Effect control that makes nearly every property keyframable, including cursor appearance, blink speed, text color, and cursor color. This means you can animate the typewriter effect’s behavior over time, not just play it back at a fixed speed.
Key Features
Pseudo Effect control. The main addition in version 2. This lets you keyframe properties like cursor visibility, blink speed, and colors directly in the Effect Controls panel. Text color keyframing requires After Effects 17.0 or later.
Right-to-Left language support. Works with RTL text layers, which is useful for languages like Arabic and Hebrew. Multi-line RTL text works without the cursor.
Multi-line support. Applies the typewriter effect to paragraph text, not just single lines. For RTL multi-line text, the cursor isn’t available yet.
Customizable cursor. You can change the cursor’s appearance and color, control its blink speed, or turn it off entirely using a checkbox.
Expression-based. The plugin uses expressions to create the effect, so it works across different language versions of After Effects. All controls appear in the Effect Controls panel.

Useful for title sequences, kinetic typography, video essays, or any project where you need text to appear as if it’s being typed. The RTL support makes it practical for international projects.
