What It Does
Akuto is a frame-by-frame animated typeface that brings motion to text designs. It blends a humanist type style with geometric precision, featuring high contrast letterforms that animate with frame-by-frame motion. The typeface works as a drop-in asset for After Effects projects requiring animated text.
Key Features
Full character set. Includes uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters, all with built-in animations.
JSX format included. The lightweight JSX version integrates with Font Manager, letting you type directly in After Effects rather than dragging individual character comps.
Compatible with Font Manager and Animography Controller. Font Manager handles typing, sizing, tracking, and alignment automatically. Animography Controller provides manual character placement with one-click controller parenting.
Static version available separately. A non-animated version exists at Kobu Foundry for print or static digital work.
Who It’s For
Motion designers working on title sequences, kinetic typography pieces, or any project where text needs built-in motion. Useful when you want animated letterforms without rigging them yourself. Works well for branding animations, social media titles, or video intros that need personality beyond standard type animation.
Pricing
Pay-what-you-want pricing. The suggested price is $39 for a single user license. Buying four or more Animography typefaces triggers a 25% bundle discount. A trial version is available through Font Manager (which also has a free trial).
