What It Does

Advanced Color Control moves all color properties from After Effects’ color picker dialog into the Effects & Controls panel. This lets you animate hue, saturation, brightness, and other color values directly, or control them with expressions. Instead of manually keyframing colors through the picker, you get slider controls that work like any other effect parameter.

Key Features

The plugin offers three different color models to match your workflow:

HSB (Hue Saturation Brightness). Standard color wheel model, useful for animations that shift through color ranges.

HSL (Hue Saturation Lightness). Similar to HSB but with a different brightness calculation, preferred by some designers for more predictable results.

RGB (Red Green Blue). Direct control over red, green, and blue channels, familiar to anyone working with digital color.

Each color model includes two operation modes:

Values Control Color (default): Move the sliders to adjust the color. Standard behavior for most effects.

Color Controls Values: Pick a color, and the sliders update to match. Useful when you need to extract specific values from an existing color selection.

Who It’s For

This plugin is helpful for motion designers who need to animate color changes procedurally. If you’re building expressions-based rigs, color cycling animations, or need to extract color values programmatically, this gives you direct access to properties that are normally locked inside the color picker. It’s also useful for batch automation where you need consistent, animatable color controls across multiple layers.

Pricing

Advanced Color Control uses a pay-what-you-want model with a suggested price of $15. You set your own price when purchasing.
