What It Does
Fryer is a plugin that degrades images through repeated processing. Instead of applying a glitch effect once, it loops the result back through itself across multiple iterations, so each pass works on already-damaged output. The effect accumulates: a subtle setting at five iterations looks very different at fifty. Clean footage can end up crunchy, color-shifted, broken at the edges, or completely unrecognizable.
The core idea is that digital damage compounds. Compression artifacts, color drift, unstable edges, and layered distortion build on top of each other in ways that are hard to fake with single-pass effects.
Key Features
Iterations. The primary control. Low values add light texture and instability. High values push the image toward total destruction. Because each pass feeds into the next, the relationship between the setting and the result is nonlinear, which makes it good for experimentation.
Damage and processing tools. Controls for destroying detail, shifting color, overprocessing, and creating compression-like artifacts. These interact with the iterations count to produce layered glitch structures.
Accumulation logic. The defining characteristic of Fryer is that every new pass operates on the already-processed result, not the original. This creates complex transformations that drift progressively further from the source material.
Creative control range. The plugin can stay subtle, adding film-like texture or dirty color treatment, or it can be pushed into full image collapse. Small changes compound into extreme results given enough iterations.
Who It’s For
Fryer suits motion designers and VFX artists working in glitch aesthetics, digital decay, lo-fi visuals, or experimental title treatments. It is also useful for anyone who wants unpredictable, organic-looking degradation without manually stacking multiple effects. The iterative approach produces results that are genuinely difficult to replicate by hand.
Compatible with After Effects CC 2019 through 2026. A free trial is available on the aescripts product page.
Pricing
Fryer is a one-time purchase available at $28.00 (discounted from $35.00, with the special price valid until April 25, 2026). Single user, floating server, and render-only license types are available.
