What It Does

YY_Voronoi generates procedural Voronoi diagrams (also called Worley noise or cell noise) directly in After Effects. These animated textures work for terrain maps, water caustics, abstract backgrounds, and any project needing organic or geometric patterns. Layer multiple patterns to create complex visual results.

Version 2 includes native code for faster rendering, Apple Silicon support, and Multi-Frame Rendering compatibility.

Key Features

Grid Size and Offset control cell spacing and texture placement. Adjust these to scale the pattern or shift it across your composition.

Color Calculation modes change how cells are drawn. Square Distance renders quickly with organic shapes. Absolute Distance creates high-contrast linear falloffs. Edge Distance bases color on proximity to cell boundaries. Discrete modes remove internal variation for a mosaic effect.

Distance Metrics alter cell boundaries. Euclidean produces organic shapes, while Manhattan creates sharp 45-degree angles.

Cell Dispersion randomizes how cells distribute. Enable Use Image To Disperse to control dispersion with layer pixels (black means no dispersion, white means full).

Evolution animates the cell pattern over time. Set Evolution Period to create seamless loops. Both parameters give you frame-accurate control over movement.

Repeat X/Y tiles the pattern horizontally and vertically. Useful when you need a continuous texture across large compositions.

Contrast and Brightness sliders shape the final output without rendering multiple times. Random Seed changes the pattern’s starting point.

RGB Only mode preserves your background layer’s alpha channel when blending.
