What It Does
YY_ShockRing generates rings similar to how the built-in Circle effect creates circles. It works as a procedural generator with full controls for positioning, sizing, feathering, and blending. Common applications include shockwave effects, motion graphics backgrounds, and ring-based design elements.
Key Features
Center and Radius. Position the ring anywhere in your comp and set its size with a single radius value.
Expansion and Feather. Control ring thickness (expansion) and edge softness (feather) independently. This lets you create sharp graphic rings or soft glowing halos.
Dual Color Gradients. Set separate colors for the inner and outer edges. The plugin interpolates between them, with an optional smooth interpolation mode.
Scatter Parameter. Adds noise to the ring structure (CS5 and later). Useful for organic looks or disrupted effects.
Render Modes. Choose from transparent, normal compositing, additive blending, or two stencil multiply modes that reveal the background layer. The stencil modes work like a reveal mask, composited on black or transparent.
Multi-Frame Rendering (MFR). Supports After Effects’ multi-frame rendering for faster previews and exports.
Native Apple Silicon. Optimized for M1/M2 Macs with improved performance.
Who It’s For
Motion designers who need repeatable ring generation without building nested precomps. VFX artists creating impact effects, energy blasts, or portal visuals. Anyone who finds themselves manually animating circle masks or shape layers for radial effects.
Pricing
