What It Does

Wrap It handles 3D camera projection in After Effects without 2D workarounds. Load an Alembic file, and the plugin lets you unwrap 3D surfaces into flat UV space or project textures back onto geometry through a camera. This matters when you need to extract textures from tracked footage or paint fixes in 2D that wrap onto 3D surfaces.

The plugin works with animated geometry and integrates with After Effects’ native 3D camera tracker and solids. Instead of exporting to a 3D app for projection tasks, you stay in the compositing timeline.

Key Features

Unwrap Mode transforms 3D geometry into UV space. Point it at tracked camera footage, and it flattens the surface so you can extract the texture that would appear on that model. Useful for creating clean plates from tracked shots or pulling texture data for further work.

Rewrap Mode projects your painted or composited textures back onto the 3D model through the camera. Paint fixes in 2D texture space, add graphics to tracked surfaces, or apply effects that need to stick to the geometry.

Alembic Support. Import geometry with animation. The plugin reads standard Alembic files and handles models with multiple objects.

GPU Acceleration. Rendering happens on the GPU when available, keeping interactive playback reasonable for heavier geometry.

Native AE Integration. Works with After Effects’ built-in 3D camera tracker and solid layers, not just imported Alembic cameras. Wireframe view available for checking alignment.

Who It’s For

VFX compositors working with tracked footage who need to extract textures, project painted fixes, or integrate 3D elements without round-tripping to Maya or Blender. Also useful for projection mapping workflows where you’re applying graphics to tracked surfaces.

Requires some 3D pipeline knowledge (Alembic export, UV layouts, camera tracking). Not a beginner tool, but if you’re already doing camera projection work, it removes several annoying steps.

Pricing

Single license costs $119 (regularly $149, current price valid through March 19, 2026). One-time purchase, no subscription. Floating server and render-only licenses available at different price points. A trial version is listed on the product page for testing before buying.
