What It Does

Wind creates realistic wind-blown movement for any type of layer in After Effects. When you click apply, it builds a series of null-based rigs that control each active layer using a custom turbulence algorithm in native 3D space. Not a particle system or physics engine, just automated rigging that mimics natural breeze effects.

Works with text layers, vector graphics, video, shapes, JPEGs, AI files, and PSDs. Handles hundreds of layers at once with minimal setup.

Key Features

17 presets cover different wind styles, from gentle sea breezes to aggressive blasts. Each named after wind types (Chinook, Zephyr, Dust Devil) with distinct motion characteristics.

10 directional controls let you set where the wind comes from. Add secondary drift for layered movement that feels less uniform.

In and out transitions include fade and scale options. Layers can blow in, stay static, then blow out, or any combination. Marker-based timing controls let you synchronize when effects happen.

Turbulence options include dozens of interpolation and easing types. You can deactivate turbulence entirely for mechanical motion effects, like objects falling or sliding without organic variation.

Master layer controls adjust global transforms after the build. Select individual layers manually if you need to fine-tune specific elements. Fast build and restore means you can iterate quickly.

Auto-orient to camera keeps layers facing the viewer in 3D space. Works with After Effects 2017+ C4D renderer.

Who It’s For

Motion designers working on title sequences, typography animations, or any project where layers need to move like they’re caught in a breeze. Useful for creating transitions where elements scatter or reassemble naturally.
