What It Does
voodoo streamlines puppet tool workflows in After Effects. Instead of hunting through layers to find and adjust pins, it tracks them automatically and generates controllers with one click. Its sequential pin parenting feature lets you control position, scale, rotation, and skew in ways the standard puppet tool can’t.
Key Features
Pin tracking. voodoo finds and tracks puppet pins without making you dig through layer stacks. You select a pin once, and it stays accessible.
Handle generation. Creates controller shapes for your pins automatically. A toggle function shows or hides these handles, keeping your workspace clean while you work.
Sequential pin parenting. This is where voodoo differs from standard puppet rigging. You can parent pins in sequence to control not just position but scale, rotation, and skew. That flexibility lets you build both simple rigs (a waving arm) and complex ones (a full character with multiple joints) without fighting the tool.
Compatible with Element 3D. If you use Element for 3D objects, voodoo’s controller system works with it.
Who It’s For
Motion designers rigging characters, especially those who want more control than the default puppet tool provides. Also useful for anyone tired of manually keyframing individual pins across multiple layers.
The developer includes a three-minute tutorial video with the script, plus multilingual documentation.
Pricing
voodoo uses pay-what-you-want pricing. The regular suggested price is $18, but you can name your own amount. A trial version is available.
