What It Does

TypeMonkey3D converts existing TypeMonkey builds into 3D typography in a single click. Built for After Effects 2024 and later, it takes advantage of the Advanced 3D Renderer introduced in AE 2024 to transform flat kinetic type into dimensional text animations.

The script requires TypeMonkey (sold separately) to function. It works by taking your completed TypeMonkey layout and applying 3D geometry to it, preserving all the timing and animation you’ve already built.

Key Features

One-click conversion. Select your TypeMonkey composition, click “3D IT!”, and the script builds out the 3D version automatically. No manual layer-by-layer conversion needed.

Real-time effect controls. After conversion, expression-driven controllers let you adjust geometry depth, material properties, color, transparency, lighting intensity, reflections, and applied textures without re-rendering.

Lighting and texture options. Choose from preset lighting environments and texture setups, or build custom lighting rigs. The script supports standard After Effects 3D materials and light types.

Designed for the Monkey ecosystem. TypeMonkey3D integrates with the free Launchbox installer, which provides centralized access to all Ebberts + Zucker tools.

Note for AE 2024.5 users: Close the Property panel before running the script. Adobe is working on a fix for this compatibility issue.

Who It’s For

This script is built for motion designers who already use TypeMonkey and want to extend their kinetic typography into 3D space. If you regularly deliver title sequences, broadcast graphics, or social media videos with animated text, TypeMonkey3D speeds up the process of adding dimension to your work.

Because it requires TypeMonkey as a base, it’s not a standalone text tool. Think of it as an add-on that unlocks 3D capabilities for an existing workflow.

Pricing

TypeMonkey3D costs $39.99 for a single-user license. This is a one-time purchase with no subscription. Upgrade pricing is available for users who qualify (requires login to check eligibility).

It’s also included in the Monkey Suite bundle, which packages TypeMonkey3D with other Ebberts + Zucker tools for $674 (regularly $842.50). MonkeyTools utilities come free with Monkey Suite products, and the free Launchbox app provides streamlined access.
