What It Does
After Effects’ native Paragraph panel changes where text sits in the comp whenever you switch alignment. Type ReAlign fixes that. It lets you toggle between left, center, and right alignment on point text layers without nudging the type’s position at all. Works on both 2D and 3D text layers.
Useful any time you inherit a project and need to change text alignment mid-build, or when you’re iterating on title card layouts and don’t want to manually reposition every layer afterward.
Key Features
Position-preserving realignment. Switching from left to center no longer shifts your text. Type ReAlign adjusts the anchor point internally so the visual position stays locked.
3D text support. The tool works with 3D text layers, not just 2D. This is the main thing the free version withholds, so it’s the primary reason to buy the license.
Anchor Point Lock. When you realign a layer that already has animation, Anchor Point Lock preserves the existing keyframes so nothing breaks. There’s also a Reset option to undo the lock if needed.
Center to Comp. Works on both 2D and 3D layers. For 3D, you can choose between true center (based on the actual geometry) and optical center (an estimated visual midpoint), which matters when working with cameras.
Source Text keyframe support. Layers where the Source Text property has keyframes are supported in the licensed version, which covers a common real-world scenario for animating dynamic text.
Who It’s For
Motion designers who work with a lot of text-heavy compositions, particularly those building title sequences, lower thirds, or data-driven layouts where text alignment needs to change without disrupting positioning or animation. The 3D text and anchor point features make it especially handy in broadcast or cinematic title work.
Pricing
Type ReAlign uses a free trial model. The free version covers 2D layer realignment and centering 2D layers to comp, so you can evaluate the core concept before buying. The licensed version ($10, one-time purchase) adds 3D layer support, Anchor Point Lock and Reset, Source Text keyframe compatibility, and Center to Comp for 3D layers.
