What It Does
Type-36 brings animated text to After Effects through a geometric, capsule-shaped typeface with built-in glitch reveal animations. Set your text, adjust the distortion and color controls, and export title sequences or motion graphics without manual keyframing.
The typeface uses an ExtraBold weight with animations designed for title cards, bumpers, and dynamic text treatments. Works as a standard .aep file or integrates with Font Manager for a typing-based workflow.
Key Features
Customizable glitch reveal. Control horizontal and vertical displacement, three independent color channels, and three stroke widths. The reveal style adapts to sci-fi, tech, or editorial projects without looking locked to one aesthetic.
Full character set. Includes uppercase, lowercase, numerals, accented characters (Æ, Œ, Ø, ß), and standard punctuation. Covers most Latin-based languages for localization work.
JSX and .aep formats. Use the lightweight JSX version with Font Manager to type directly in the plugin interface, or import the .aep file and drag characters manually. Font Manager handles sizing, tracking, line spacing, and time offset through a single controller.
Free trial. Test characters A, B, and C for seven days before committing. Requires the Font Manager trial to run the JSX version.
Who It’s For
Useful for motion designers building title sequences, editors adding animated lower thirds, or anyone needing glitch typography without hand-animating each letter. The geometric style fits tech branding, sports graphics, or modern editorial work.
If you’re already using Font Manager, the JSX format drops into your existing workflow. If not, the .aep file works standalone with the free Animography Controller plugin for parenting settings across multiple characters.
Pricing
Type-36 uses a pay-what-you-want model. The standard suggested price is $38 one-time purchase, but you can set your own amount. Buying four or more Animography typefaces unlocks a 25% bundle discount.
The free trial includes characters A, B, and C for seven days through Font Manager’s trial version. No subscription required for the full product.
