What It Does

Tweaks handles complex path and shape operations that would otherwise require manual keyframing or multiple third-party tools. Morph between shape layers, add physics-based deformations to paths, create particle systems from custom shapes, and distribute layers in geometric patterns. The plugin uses GPU acceleration to keep previews responsive even with intricate animations.

Key Features

PolyMorphers. Four morphing modes (Classic, Intricate, Legacy, Explosion) transition between shape layers with customizable easing curves. Select two layers, adjust proximity and sensitivity controls, and the plugin generates guide layers with markers to control timing. Useful for logo animations or transitioning between typographic states.

Path manipulation tools. Breeze adds natural wind-like movement to paths with frequency, speed, and damping controls. WaveCraft converts paths into animated sine waves. Complexifier dynamically adds points to create fractal-like patterns. Tornado rotates shapes into spiral formations with height, width, and orientation controls. Flames generates fire effects along path edges.

Physics-based effects. Swallower deforms shapes toward or away from a guide layer. Magnetism and Repulsion simulate attraction forces between layers. Vacuum creates stretching or compression effects. All use guide layers as control points rather than manual expression writing.

Handy Particles. Generate particle systems using custom shapes instead of generic dots. Create rain, snow, or star bursts with full control over particle behavior. Works with any shape layer as the particle source.

Layer distribution. Arrange layers in grids, circles, triangles, or custom spreader patterns (cross, spiral, pyramid, Y-shape). The Carousel in Depth feature arranges layers in a faux-3D rotating carousel with scale and tracking controls.

Toolkit utilities. Grid Maker distributes layers geometrically. Bake converts expression-based animations to keyframes. Explode Layers separates multi-shape layers into individual compositions. re-drop Sadow provides granular control over the Drop Shadow effect using guide layers.

Most features work by selecting layers and clicking a tool button. Tweaks generates guide layers with sliders and markers, letting you adjust parameters visually rather than editing expression code. Some features (like Breeze or path morphing) require setting the first vertex manually for predictable animation flow.

Who It’s For

Motion designers working with shape layers, especially those creating abstract animations, kinetic typography, or logo reveals. Useful if you frequently morph between text states, need organic path movement without manual keyframing, or want particle systems that use custom shapes. The toolkit utilities help anyone managing complex layer hierarchies or needing to bake expression-based animations for client deliverables.
