What It Does

Transfusion applies artistic styles to footage using AI-based style transfer algorithms. The suite includes two plugins: Transfusion Styles for loading pre-trained style packs, and Transfusion Blend for custom style transfer using any After Effects layer as a style reference. Different AI trainings can be selected based on image type.

The plugin runs on CPU with experimental GPU support for some Nvidia cards on Windows (RTX not supported). Mac and PC are both supported via CPU fallback.

Key Features

Transfusion Styles. Load pre-trained style packs (TRX files) from an online gallery. Over 30 styles are available, covering artistic looks like cartoon rendering, post-impressionism, and abstract textures. Preview styles before applying them to layers.

Transfusion Blend. Select a custom style input from another After Effects layer. Multiple AI cores (trainings) can be chosen depending on your source material, offering more control than fixed style packs.

Temporal smoothing tools. Two options help reduce flickering in video: adding static noise before processing to help the algorithm find consistent features between frames, or blurring the input to eliminate grain. Both can be used together. A “Start from last result” mode uses the previous frame as input for smoother output.

Preview and watermarked trial. Free trial outputs watermarked frames with a red cross and limits rendering to 100 frames per session. Once licensed, these restrictions are removed.

Pricing

Transfusion has been discontinued and is no longer available for purchase. It was replaced by StyleX. Existing Transfusion owners can cross-grade to StyleX for $55 (login to the same account on the StyleX page to see the discount automatically applied).

Current owners can still download Transfusion from the “My Downloads & Licenses” section in their aescripts account. The plugins continue to work but are no longer supported, meaning future After Effects updates may break compatibility.

Who It’s For

This information is for existing Transfusion users looking to understand the discontinuation and cross-grade path. New users should look at StyleX, which offers better performance, GPU support for modern cards, and active development.
