What It Does
Tiny Tools bundles 13 separate utilities into one toolbar, each targeting a specific pain point in the After Effects workflow. From expression management to mask adjustments to project organization, these scripts handle repetitive tasks that otherwise require multiple clicks or manual workarounds.
Key Features
Calc. A two-field calculator where you assign names to numbers and use them in equations. Type Height = 125 and Margin = 10, then calculate (Height * 5 + Margin * 4) * 2 to get 1580.
Clear Cache. Wipes all cache types with one click. Helpful when working with scripts that conflict with After Effects’ cache system.
Color Matcher. Match two clips by selecting shadows and highlights in each. The tool generates the correction automatically. You can adjust colors dynamically afterward.
ExpressIOn. Toggle expressions on or off across selected properties, property groups, layers, or your entire project. Hold Shift to reset broken expressions after undo operations.
Expression Baker. Converts expressions to keyframes to speed up sluggish comps. The original expressions are preserved, so you can delete the keyframes and reactivate them later.
Link. Connects any property to any other property, like parenting but for values instead of transforms. Useful for linking position to blur or mask expansion to fractal noise evolution. The expression-linking feature applies expressions from one central location, so updating one expression updates all linked properties simultaneously.
Mask Nudge. Activate it, then use arrow keys to move masks. Keyframes move with the mask if keyframed. Or move the image and leave masks in place.
Name Exchange. Syncs layer names with their project panel source names. Select a layer, run the script, and “Blue Solid 5” becomes “BG” if that’s the name in the project panel. Works in reverse too. Hold Alt to reveal the source in the project panel.
Print Screen. Saves the current frame as an image with alpha. Hold Shift to import it to the project, Alt to import and place it above the selected layer in the timeline. Set preview to full for best quality.
Reset Timespan. Resets the render queue timespan to your original settings after a canceled render.
Script Launcher. A searchable launcher for all your scripts. Supports partial name matching (type “So La” to find “Sort Layer”). Scripts in the ScriptUI folder launch as dockable panels. You can create shortcuts to scripts in other locations to make them dockable without moving files.
Search and Replace Expressions. Find and replace text in expressions across selected properties, groups, layers, or the entire project.
Toggler. Use arrow keys to cycle through property values or blend modes. Select a property and press Toggle to adjust it with arrow keys. With layers selected, it toggles blend modes instead.
Who It’s For
Motion designers and editors who work with expressions, masks, or large projects. The expression tools are especially useful if you use expressions regularly and need to manage or bake them across multiple layers. The launcher and naming tools help keep complex projects organized.
