What It Does
The Positioner anchors layers to the edges of your composition or other layers, keeping them locked in place as your design changes. Pin a title to the bottom corner, scale a background to fill the frame, or build responsive layouts that adapt to any aspect ratio, all without manually repositioning or rescaling.
Key Features
Pin to edges. Lock layers to composition boundaries or to the edges of other layers. Pinned layers stay in place even when you resize the comp or move the parent layer.
Auto-scale with 10 modes. Choose from Fit, Fit Width, Fit Height, Fill, Stretch, Stretch Width, Stretch Height, Shrink, Shrink Width, or Shrink Height. Each mode scales differently, letting you adapt layers to any container without distortion.
Padding controls. Add uniform padding around all sides or set individual values for left, top, right, and bottom. Useful for creating margins between elements or breathing room inside containers.
Limit size. Constrain width or height within a set percentage. Prevents layers from scaling beyond your intended boundaries.
Lock text height. Keeps text dimensions stable while scaling other properties. Prevents typography from stretching vertically when you adjust the layout.
Works with rotation. Layers stay locked to edges even when rotated, and position offsets follow the layer’s rotation axis. Added in version 1.1.0.
Visual UI. Position layers through a visual interface instead of typing numbers. Faster than manual alignment tools for repeated tasks.
Box It! compatibility. Works with Box It! (sold separately) for creating dynamic text boxes and lower thirds. The Auto-Scale feature is not supported when using Box It! layers.
Who It’s For
Useful for motion designers building templates, title sequences, or multi-format deliverables. If you frequently reposition layers across different aspect ratios or need elements to stay anchored while animations play, this speeds up that work. Also helpful for creating responsive graphics that adapt to different comp sizes without breaking.
