What It Does
Swappy brings the familiar fill/stroke workflow from Photoshop and Illustrator into After Effects. It adds one-click buttons to manage shape layer properties: add fills or strokes, swap their colors and properties, or delete them entirely. It works on nested shapes and selected layers, or creates new rectangles when nothing is selected.
Key Features
Add Fill. Adds a fill property to selected shapes, or creates a 300×300 white-filled rectangle if nothing is selected.
Add Stroke. Adds a stroke property to selected shapes, or creates a 300×300 white-stroked rectangle if nothing is selected.
Swap Fill & Stroke. Swaps all fills and strokes on selected objects. If a shape only has a fill, Swappy converts it to a stroke (and vice versa), matching the behavior of design apps.
Delete All Fills/Strokes. Removes all fill or stroke properties from selected shapes, including nested shape groups, in one pass.
The script handles nested shapes without requiring manual drilling. Select a parent group and Swappy processes all children automatically. This saves clicks when cleaning up shape layers built from multiple groups.
Who It’s For
Designers who work in both After Effects and Illustrator or Photoshop will recognize the workflow. Useful for anyone managing shape layers with complex hierarchies, or converting assets from other Adobe apps where fill/stroke swapping is standard.
