What It Does
Sticky-Web changes how you prepare characters for rigging in After Effects. Instead of parenting layers in the timeline or repositioning anchors one at a time, you draw parent chains directly in the composition window. Click through layers in sequence to establish parent relationships, then adjust anchor points by dragging them where they belong. The tool was designed for character setup workflows where you need to link multiple body parts quickly before animating.
Key Features
Parent chains. Click layers in order to create parent relationships without touching the timeline. This works like sketching the skeleton of a character rig directly on your comp.
Interactive anchor adjustment. Move anchor points by dragging them in the comp window. Layer names appear in the Info panel while you work, so you always know which layer you’re adjusting.
IK rigs. End a web with three mask points to generate a two-bone or three-bone inverse kinematics setup. This makes arm and leg rigs considerably faster to build.
Auto-Web. Load custom web configurations automatically. If you rig similar characters repeatedly, this feature applies your standard parent structure in one click.
Unstack Anchors. When multiple anchor points land on top of each other, this command recenters them and spreads them in a circle so you can select the one you need.
Sticky-Web skips 3D layers, adjustment layers, locked layers, and any layer with animated Position or Anchor Point properties. It supports separated X/Y position dimensions and includes an undo button to cancel the entire web if you make a mistake.
Who It’s For
Character animators who rig frequently will benefit most. If you prepare illustrated characters, mascots, or explainer graphics where you need to parent multiple layers and adjust pivot points, this tool removes repetitive timeline work. It’s also useful for anyone building mechanical rigs or layered graphic elements that need precise parent hierarchies.
Pricing
Sticky-Web costs $19.99 for a single-user license. A free trial with limited features is available (no time restriction). Upgrade pricing exists for customers who own earlier versions, visible after logging in on aescripts.com.
