What It Does
Squall 2 converts After Effects animations into native iOS code, letting you preview animations live on your device and generate production-ready Swift or Objective-C code directly from After Effects. The plugin bridges the gap between motion design and app development, turning your compositions into code that developers can integrate into iOS applications.
Key Features
Live device preview. See your After Effects animation running on an iPhone or iPad in real time through the companion app. No rendering, no export delays, just immediate feedback on how your animation performs on actual hardware.
Core Animation code generation. Select a property and Squall generates Swift or Objective-C code you can copy and paste directly into Xcode. Skip manual translation and get production-ready code from your timeline.
SDK integration. The included SDK lets developers embed your animations into iOS apps and adapt them dynamically through APIs. Change colors, timing, or other parameters at runtime without touching After Effects again.
Expression evaluation. Dynamic expressions can be evaluated on the device, giving you control over interactive animations that respond to user input or app state.
Composition analyzer. When an animation doesn’t convert cleanly, the analyzer identifies the problem and suggests fixes. Saves time debugging conversion issues.
Repeater and shape layer support. Handles complex shape animations, polystar layers, and repeaters. Also supports multiline text, animated masks, and 3D layer rotations.
Build presets for iOS devices. Target specific screen sizes and resolutions with preset compositions optimized for iPhone and iPad.
Who It’s For
Motion designers working with iOS developers. If you’re creating loading spinners, onboarding animations, or UI transitions for apps, Squall turns your After Effects work into code without requiring you to learn Swift.
App developers who prototype in After Effects. Build and refine animations visually, then export them as native code instead of video files.
Pricing
This product has been discontinued. It was previously sold for $29 (with occasional discounts to $23.20). The plugin supported After Effects CC 2014 through CC 2020 and required the companion iOS app for live previews.
