What It Does
SpiderWeb generates procedural spider webs in Cinema 4D through two anchoring methods. The first uses ray casting to attach webs to polygon objects or primitives in your scene. The second method uses child objects (like nulls) as manual anchor points. This gives you control over web placement while keeping the generation process fast.
The plugin renders through Cinema 4D’s hair module for speed, or you can make webs editable and render them with sweep nurbs for more control over the final geometry.
Key Features
Ray casting mode. Point the generator at geometry and it automatically finds anchor points on polygon surfaces. Useful for populating environments with webs quickly.
Manual anchor mode. Place null objects or other Cinema 4D primitives as child objects to define exact web attachment points. Good for hero shots where you need precise web placement.
Hair tag rendering. Attach a hair tag to render webs quickly through Cinema 4D’s hair system, or make the generator editable and use sweep nurbs for full geometric control.
Adjustable parameters. The interface includes settings for web density, structure, and population patterns. The controls are straightforward without requiring procedural modeling experience.
Who It’s For
Useful for environment artists adding atmospheric detail to abandoned buildings, caves, or basement scenes. Also works for close-up hero webs where you need realistic structure without manual spline work.
Compatible with Cinema 4D R15 through R20. Last updated May 2020 for S22 compatibility.
