What It Does

Soft Body 2 applies physics-based soft body deformations to shape layers, text, and pre-compositions in After Effects. The plugin simulates realistic squash and stretch effects when objects interact with colliders, useful for title animations, logo reveals, or any motion that needs organic, bouncy movement.

Key Features

Two simulation engines. The Quick engine includes an auto wobble animation feature that automatically generates bouncing motion. The Advanced engine adds the ability to bend entire images and layers, not just shapes.

Multi-collider support. Attach multiple collision objects to a single soft body layer. Each soft body can interact with several colliders at once, letting you create complex physics setups without nesting compositions.

Works with standard layers. Apply soft body physics to shape layers, text layers, and pre-comps directly. No need to convert everything to a specific layer type first.

The plugin notes some limitations. Very small or thin objects don’t simulate well as soft bodies (though they work fine as colliders). The Quick engine also softens sharp angles during simulation.

Who It’s For

Motion designers working with kinetic typography or logo animations where organic movement matters. Also useful for explainer videos or social media content that needs playful, bouncy text treatments.

Pricing

Soft Body 2 costs $29 USD as a one-time purchase. Owners of the original Soft Body 1 can upgrade for $9. A trial version is available to test compatibility with your workflow.
