What It Does
Smooth Rounder generates shape layers with smooth curves that After Effects’ native tools can’t match. Where standard ellipses and rectangles only let you adjust corner radius, this plugin controls the actual curvature of the shape itself, producing super ellipses and modern UI-style rounded forms. Useful for creating app icons, interface elements, or organic motion graphics that need precise curve control.
Key Features
Curvature control. The key difference from After Effects’ built-in shapes is the roundness parameter. Instead of just rounding corners with a fixed radius, you control how the entire curve flows between straight and circular, creating super ellipses and custom curves.
Width, height, and corner radius controllers. For rectangles, you get independent control over width, height, roundness (the curve quality), and corner radius. For ellipses, width, height, and roundness. All parameters are keyframable, so you can animate between sharp and smooth shapes.
Shape layer compatibility. Works like any other shape layer object. Add Fill, Stroke, Dashes, Trim Paths, Repeaters, or Zig Zag. The generated shapes integrate directly into your shape layer workflow.
Minimal interface. Simple controls, no clutter. Generate a shape, adjust the sliders, done. Renders fast.
Who It’s For
Motion designers working on modern UI animations, app promos, or title sequences where standard rounded rectangles look too generic. Anyone who’s tried to fake a super ellipse with multiple masks will appreciate the direct control.
