What It Does
Slate Create generates customizable slate cards for the front of After Effects compositions. Select a comp, fill in text fields (or let the script extract details from the comp name), choose formatting options, and click Generate. The script creates a pre-comp slate that matches your composition’s resolution, frame rate, aspect ratio, and duration.
Key Features
Automatic comp matching. The generated slate inherits all technical specs from your selected composition, so slates always fit without manual adjustment.
One-click generation from comp names. If your comps follow a naming convention, the script can parse the name and populate fields automatically, making slate creation truly single-click.
Customizable templates. Three included templates let you add your own artwork or branding. Panel layouts adapt to different naming workflows, and you can save favorite setups to reuse.
Date formatting options. A dropdown menu lets you choose how dates appear on slates. Your preference becomes the default for future sessions.
Flexible slate durations. Version 1.1.2 added support for multiple slate lengths, including single-frame slates. If you choose a slate three seconds or longer, you can enable a 2-pop option.
Session persistence. The script remembers your last slate data and panel setup, reloading them when you launch After Effects or reopen the panel.
Who It’s For
Useful for editors working on client review deliveries, archival projects, or any workflow that requires consistent slate cards across multiple compositions. Particularly helpful if you deliver frequent revisions or manage large batches of comps that need identification frames.
Pricing
Pay-what-you-want pricing. The suggested amount is $12.99 for a single-user license, but you can name your own price.
