What It Does

ShakeTracker2AE imported tracker data from Apple Shake’s tracker node into After Effects. It converted Shake’s text-based tracking exports into null objects within your composition. This allowed editors who tracked footage in Shake to apply that data directly to layers in After Effects.

Status

This plugin is discontinued. Rebus Film no longer sells or supports it. The product page remains archived on aescripts.com but no downloads or purchases are available.

How It Worked

The workflow was straightforward: track your footage in Shake, export the tracker data as a text file, then run ShakeTracker2AE to import that data as a null object. You could then parent layers to the null for position tracking.

Installation required placing the script in After Effects’ Scripts folder and enabling “Allow Scripts to Write Files and Access Network” in Preferences.

Compatibility

The last supported versions were After Effects CS3 through CS6. No updates were made for CC versions.

Pricing

Before discontinuation, ShakeTracker2AE used a pay-what-you-want model with a suggested price of $12.90. The product is no longer available for any price.

Alternatives

Since Apple discontinued Shake in 2009 and this plugin is no longer available, modern After Effects users should consider native tracking tools, Mocha AE for planar tracking, or third-party scripts like Tracker2Mask for converting tracking data between formats.
