What It Does

Sequence Ninja is a standalone desktop application for Windows that handles image sequence management tasks outside of After Effects. It finds sequences across folder structures, checks them for errors, batch encodes them to video formats, and packages them for delivery.

Key Features

Find Sequences. Scans any folder or subfolder for image sequences and filters by latest version, organizing your rendered frames without manual searching.

Inspect. Displays sequence information including frame ranges, missing frames, version lists, and multichannel layers. Helps verify renders before encoding.

Batch Encode. Encodes multiple sequences simultaneously using multithreaded processing, with each encode running on its own thread for faster output.

Batch Rename. Changes sequence names in bulk, updating every file at once. Includes the ability to modify frame padding (like converting from four-digit to five-digit numbering).

Publish mode encodes sequences and then copies all outputs plus zipped frames to a specified directory. Useful for client deliveries or internal reviews where you need everything packaged together.

Output mode overrides individual preset outputs to encode all sequences to a common directory, simplifying delivery of multiple shots.

Custom Profiles. Build encoding profiles for specific delivery requirements. Split large renders for multi-projector setups, create multiple crops for different social media aspect ratios, encode both high-quality ProRes and preview H.264 versions, or add audio tracks to video outputs.

Pipeline Integration. Regular expressions can capture custom variables from sequence paths, which combine with environment variables and date stamps for automated naming and organization.

Who It’s For

Useful for anyone rendering image sequences from After Effects who needs to manage and encode them efficiently. Particularly relevant for studios handling multiple deliverables per project, renders split across multiple machines, or versioned outputs that need tracking. The batch operations save time when processing dozens or hundreds of sequences.

Pricing

Single user license costs $69. A trial version is available. Note that this is a Windows-only application, not an After Effects plugin.
