What It Does

Select Layers Pro replaces manual layer selection with one-click operations. Instead of shift-clicking through dozens of layers or hunting for specific types, you press an icon and get exactly the layers you need. Works with modifier keys for add, deselect, or refine operations.

Key Features

Type and status selection. Click to select all cameras, lights, text layers, or any other layer type. Switch modes to unlock, solo, or shy selected layers instantly. No menu diving.

Label-based workflows. Assign layers to labels using Cmd/Ctrl-click, then select all layers with that label color. Supports 0-16 label colors from After Effects preferences. Useful for color-coding animation groups or review stages.

Numeric patterns. Select N layers below or above the current selection. Pick every Nth layer (every third, every fifth). Generate N random layers for organic variation. Each has practical uses: “select 5 layers below” grabs a group, “every 3rd layer” creates offset patterns, random selection builds texture variety.

Copy/paste selection state. Copy which layers are selected, then paste that state later, even if you’ve reordered or added layers. The tool remembers by layer identity, not position. Saves time when revisiting complex selections.

Customizable UI. Set button alignment, row/column count, button size and spacing. Hide buttons you don’t use. Tailors the panel to your actual workflow rather than forcing a rigid layout.

Modifier keys follow After Effects conventions: Shift adds to selection, Alt deselects, Alt+Shift selects within the selection.
